The Giant Panda

The Giant Panda by Jayla Rose

The giant panda is a unique animal to me. I love their color pattern. Let me tell you about the giant panda. As the national treasure of China the giant panda is therefore protected by the law. Pandas live in the cold and rainy bamboo forest of western China.

FACTS:

Pandas weigh 220 to 330 pounds (100 to 150 kilograms). Their length is around 5 feet (1.5 meters). They can live up to 14 to 20 years in the wilderness, they can live up to 30 years in special care. Pandas height is 27 to 32 inches tall. People outside China have been interested in the giant panda since 1869 when they were introduced by a Frenchman named Missionary Pere Armand David. Since more than one billion people live in China more cities and farms are built, more national resources are used, taking away the panda's homes.

Today only about 1,600 pandas live on Earth.
