Abraham Lincoln once said, "Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure." Indeed, honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our Nation defines our very character, as an organization and as a people. The origins of Memorial Day, or Decoration Day, date back to Lincoln’s America, when women on both the Union and Confederate sides of the Civil War honored fallen Soldiers by laying flowers and flags on graves.
Today, the people of DLA are involved through their direct connection with men and women in uniform; even to the point of honoring those who have fallen by providing flags to service families.
